in architecture this same era circa 1864 yielded PETER ELLIS' introduction of the glass curtain wall (in early stages perhaps) at ORIEL CHAMBERS LIVERPOOL / also of note: this concept (esp: light) will later catch on in chicago... in combination with the cincinnatian approach of reinforced concrete construction... essentially yielding an architectural revolution that became the SKYSCRAPER...
